Wednesday, 3 July 2024: The old technology reading room is closed due to the construction work.
On 4 and 5 July 2024, use of this reading room and WiFi access may be affected by construction work. The computers in the reading room are not available.

As one of Germany‘s great memory institutions, the German National Library (DNB) offers its data and digital collections for science and research as well as for experimental and creative work within the scope of what is legally and technically possible. We have been issuing calls for applications for DH fellowships since 2022 for research into our freely accessible data and collections using text and data mining methods. The call is mainly directed at young, tech-savvy researchers in all disciplines who already have some experience with Digital Humanities‘ methods and tools

Here you can find out more about our DH fellowships, our current and completed projects and their results, as well as our other activities in this field.

The now-expired call from 2024 can still be viewed here for information purposes.

Current projects

More than the sum of its parts - linking data silos to research Judaica at the DNB

The research project is dedicated to the central question of how data from the German National Library can be indexed and analyzed in greater depth with the help of external data sources.

Our activities

We hold regular workshops at both of our locations in the context of the DH fellowships. These offer our fellows the opportunity to present their projects and results and to receive feedback and suggestions on their content and methods. The workshops also serve as a networking platform for fellows and (expert) colleagues at the German National Library while giving insights into the DNB's many tasks and fields of work.

More about our DH activities in the DNB blog (only available in German): DNB-Blog
