Machine-Readable Cataloging Extensible Markup Language (MARCXML)

The Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) data format is used to record, store and exchange bibliographic data.

More about MARC 21 at the German National Library

MARCXML is a content equivalent XML version of this data format. The German National Library uses this format for the submission procedures for online publications. MARCXML can be used when depositing e-books, e-jounals (articles and issues) and dissertations.
