The Vocational Training Day at the German National Library in Frankfurt am Main will take place from 14:00 on 15 September 2022. School students, school leavers and career starters are warmly invited to learn about the DNB’s vocational training and study offerings. The German National Library in Frankfurt am Main trains media and information services experts specialising in library work. In addition, it offers a dual degree course in Applied Computer Science in partnership with the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University. Each training course lasts three years.

Every year, the German National Library offers six vocational training places and two study places at its sites in Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main (for more details, please visit www.dnb.de/nachwuchs). At the Vocational Training Day, you can learn more about the structure and content of the vocational training course and dual degree course. Training coordinators, trainees and dual-degree students will give insights into the library-based and IT professions, provide tips for the application process, and answer any questions. The next training course begins in September 2023.

Background

The German National Library collects, documents and archives all media works in text, image and sound format published in Germany since 1913 along with foreign publications about Germany or in the German language; these are then made available to the public. It offers a comprehensive range of services at its sites in Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main along with digital services that can be accessed all over the world insofar as this is permitted by copyright. With the German Museum of Books and Writing and the German Exile Archive 1933-1945, the German National Library also has valuable and rich special collections.
