The Anne Frank Shoah Library is located on our premises in Leipzig. Here we provide access to literature on the Holocaust, Shoah, anti-Semitism and racism in a separate reading room. The collection focuses for example on literature by and about the Library’s namesake Anne Frank, including numerous foreign-language publications.
The Anne Frank Shoah Library is designed as a reference library and provides access to printed media such as books and journals, audiovisual media, microforms and lesson materials. The collections in the reading room can be used directly. You can search the collections in the German National Library's catalogue and the joint catalogue of the Consortium of Memorial Libraries (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Gedenkstättenbibliotheken – AGGB)
Thanks to the focus of its collection, the Anne Frank Shoah Library is making a significant contribution to political education. The library collections facilitate in-depth study of the persecution and murder of European Jews during the Nazi era. They also include books that discuss racism and anti-Semitism in modern-day society and aim to instil a critical awareness of enmity towards specific groups.
Education and teaching
Our educational services are primarily aimed at young people, educators and other multipliers. The services provided include readings, guided tours, lessons on site, assistance with project work as well as online educational programmes.

In the reading room of the Anne Frank Shoah Library you will find the freely accessible collections of the Anne Frank Shoah Library as well as the reference library on the subject of exile.
In addition, research stations with access to the catalogue and the Electronic Reference Library (EHB) are available. From here, you can also access the digitised collections of the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 at the German National Library. A stationary internet computer offers additional research opportunities including external services.
The collections can be used free of charge. If you do not have a library card, we will be happy to issue you with a visitor's card, which will give you access to the freely accessible media in the Anne Frank Shoah Library’s reading room.
