Podcast Augenrausch, Episode 2: Egbert Herfurth

The second episode of our podcast “AugenRausch” is devoted to Egbert Herfurth, a Leipzig-based graphic designer and illustrator whose visual worlds have shaped the reception of world literature over the last few decades. No matter whether the works he illustrates are by Sarah Kirsch, Franz Fühmann, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, Martin Luther or Erich Kästner: as a pupil of Wolfgang Mattheuer, Egbert Herfurth has developed a distinctive signature style. The collection of images titled “Karneval der Bücher” (Carnival of Books) is one of the most acclaimed works in his extensive graphic oeuvre, which also encompasses posters and record covers. The release of this episode will coincide with Egbert Herfurth's 80th birthday on 5 April 2024.

Not to be missed: the third episode of “AugenRausch “will focus on illustrator Gerda Raidt.
