Regeln für die Schlagwortkatalogisierung (RSWK)

The Regeln für die Schlagwortkatalogisierung (German rules for cataloguing by subject headings), referred to as RSWK, are the basis used for intellectual cataloguing with subject headings in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland. The cataloguing standard is developed and maintained cooperatively by the library networks in the German-speaking countries under the lead management of the German National Library. The first edition was published in 1986, the fourth, currently valid edition in 2017.

The RWSK are currently undergoing thorough revision by the expert team RDA Application Profile for Verbal Subject Cataloguing (ET RAVI) to accommodate new requirements and user communities. The goal is to develop a new, modularised framework for verbal subject cataloguing.
